In our CX Tech blog series, we share tips on how intelligently linking different technical solutions with SAP Customer Experience can make day-to-day work easier for sales teams. In this article, you will read about how to make the maintenance of your customer data more efficient. Sales teams are increasingly using digital channels like the business networks LinkedIn and XING to approach customers. Connection to the SAP Sales Cloud (part of the Customer Experience Portfolio) eliminates the need to manually update customer data.

Social Business Networks Have Become an Indispensable Part of the Sales World

The business networks LinkedIn and XING are continuously growing. If you want to build your professional network and business contacts, there is virtually no avoiding these social media platforms. The same applies to your colleagues in sales: business networks are used for (new) customer acquisition, recruitment or professional exchange, as they provide a wealth of contact information and high-quality contacts and information.

Avoid Time-Consuming Data Synchronization

Your colleagues in the sales team research information on LinkedIn and XING, among others, and transfer it to their CRM system to work with it in their everyday sales activity. Among other things, contacts are managed in the SAP Sales Cloud. It is of course possible that not all of the data for a contact person is available or becomes outdated over time. This results in further manual tasks, such as the creation of the contact and associated activities, for example, appointments and tasks. This is not only costly, but also time-consuming due to the manual data transfer. The challenge is to transfer the company-relevant information provided on the social media platforms to the database of the company’s own CRM system in order to keep the information there up to date and to add any missing information. At first glance, this sounds like a lot of effort, a lot of manual intervention and continuous data management. Currently, this is still the case in most companies.

Efficient Maintenance of Customer Data with the Camelot Business Network Plug-in

The “Business Network Plug-in” browser extension from Camelot ITLab ensures simplified data maintenance in the SAP Sales Cloud. Following installation, the plug-in can easily be displayed by clicking on the right-hand side of the browser. Using OData interface technology, it is possible to check the following things directly in the application:

  • Does the contact already exist in the Sales Cloud? If not, it can be created directly.
  • Existing companies can be linked to the corresponding contacts via a drop-down menu
  • The user can link SAP Customer Experience and social business networks via a direct link, thus saving time-consuming searches.

When creating new contacts, it goes without saying that the data privacy rules applicable to sales in one’s own company must be observed.

The plug-in also allows you to display, create and edit appointments, opportunities and visits in an overview for the respective contact. If you open one of these objects, you can view more detailed information about it. Furthermore, the plug-in allows you to edit the activities, such as information about the start and end time of an appointment. The new values are then automatically updated in the Sales Cloud. All objects created this way are replicated in the Sales Cloud.

What Benefits Does the Camelot Business Network Plug-In Offer?

The benefits at a glance:

  • Increased efficiency of your sales team when searching for and creating contacts.
  • Improved data quality by linking to the business networks LinkedIn and Xing.
  • All opportunities, appointments and visits for each contact at a glance.
  • Create opportunities, appointments and visits for the existing contacts.
  • Edit planned opportunities, appointments and visits.
  • No need to open other systems; everything is controlled centrally.
  • A flat and fast solution for supporting everyday tasks.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you are interested in using the plug-in, or would like further information about it.
