Having clear goals in mind combined with a great portion of passion, determination, and family support, even a global pandemic couldn’t stop Nicole from fulfilling her professional dreams: Becoming a Management Consultant at CAMELOT.

“Last year will always be remembered in a special way with all its ups and downs we had to face during the pandemic. Personally, I will forever look back on the year 2020, as it was filled with an incredible amount of personal and professional growth. Right before graduating with my master’s degree in summer 2020, I received the most exciting news which ended up changing my life quite a bit: “congratulations Nicole, you have been selected for a job in Germany”. I felt many emotions simultaneously while reading and processing those lines; I was excited, anxious, shocked, overwhelmed but most importantly beyond happy.

I always knew what I want in life and what my goals are, so let me share how I reached one of them.

CAMELOT supported my wish of becoming a consultant

During my master’s degree at EADA Business School in Barcelona, I was given the opportunity to work alongside with CAMELOT and gain experience in the world of consulting. During the six months I worked on an exciting project around CAMELOT’s unique transformation analytics solution PulseShift™. From market analysis to adjusted service offerings, me and my team have gained an incredible amount of hands on and real-life experience while closely working together with consultants from CAMELOT. This positive experience inspired me to pursue a career in consulting and made me choose consulting as my master’s specialization.

When the project was completed, I got in touch with CAMELOT to inform myself about potential job opportunities. Since I really enjoyed working with the CAMELOT colleagues and becoming a Consultant was my major goal, CAMELOT was my first choice. After a successful recruitment process and an offer in hand I needed to take a big decision. Starting the job with CAMELOT meant moving to a different country without speaking the language or having any social connections after already being away from my family for over a year due to my studies. I was born and raised in Guatemala by a multicultural family: I am half Guatemalan, half Hungarian. Thanks to my binational background, many doors were opened for me and I feel at ease with different cultures. This and the fact that my future CAMELOT team was already very diverse in many senses, I decided to take the offer. And I can definitely say, I made the right choice.

As a consultant, I experienced a steep learning curve

In the consulting world growing and learning goes hand in hand with the characteristics of diversity and speed, which I love. As a consultant, you contribute to finding solutions to challenging business problems while working across multiple industries, projects, cultures, and travel locations. At CAMELOT, I am growing my expertise in strategic thinking and blending it with my hands-on and goal-oriented approach for solving our clients’ most critical problems. It is a very fast paced but also very rewarding career.

How to start a new job in a new country completely virtually

Since my start at CAMELOT, everything has been managed virtually. I am very proud to be part of a company that adapted its ways of working in a very agile way. CAMELOT offers 100% virtual consulting . We as consultants are specifically trained to work with clients remotely, deliver project excellence, great experience, and bring the human factor to a virtual world. Of course, starting a new position in a new city 100% remotely has its challenges. But my team provided me with a wonderful virtual welcome, which helped me a lot to adapt quickly. Their leadership and knowledge transfer during the first weeks were key for me to feel part of the CAMELOT family.”

I am looking forward to the next steps in my career with CAMELOT and in my personal and professional growth after learning so much in the very challenging year that was 2020. As of now I can stress: Do not let any seeming obstacles hold you back from fulfilling your goals.
