The cloud-based collaboration platform SAP Jam provides a great solution to support internal corporate communications. Today, we would like to talk about and illustrate the benefits that arise from integrating SAP Hybris* Cloud for Customer (C4C) and SAP Jam.

Does this sound familiar from your daily project work? You are working on a project with multiple colleagues from various locations contributing. The ever-present challenge here is that not everyone is always aware of project information being exchanged. The integration of SAP Jam will put an end to this problem!

To achieve this integration, the systems are connected on both ends, allowing them to communicate bidirectionally. Integrating the two systems yields many benefits, including the ability to:

  • synchronize feeds in SAP Hybris C4C and SAP Jam
  • create SAP Jam groups for projects and opportunities and use them across both systems
  • bring together all team members involved in a project in a project-specific group
  • streamline communication with customers and suppliers

Use cases of SAP Jam in SAP Hybris C4C

You can post, comment, and share documents in your posts directly from within SAP Hybris C4C. Each feed you post is also synchronized in SAP Jam and instantly available. What’s more, you can view the feeds of opportunities, visits, or people you follow. These feeds are synchronized on both ends, ensuring that you are always up to speed regardless of the platform you are currently using.

You can go through the feed section in SAP Hybris C4C to conveniently access SAP Jam. To do so, simply click on the link labeled SAP Jam. This will open a new window and navigate you directly to your SAP Jam page.

You can follow colleagues, opportunities, visits, and much more in SAP Hybris C4C and get instant notifications on any changes on your feed page. To follow, for example, visits, all you need to do is click on the “Follow” icon on the upper right corner of the screen.

Creating and working in groups

It only takes a few clicks to create SAP Jam groups in SAP Hybris C4C. Each group you create is instantly available in SAP Hybris C4C as well. You can choose to make each group you create that is not related to a specific project or opportunity a public (or private) group.

Project-specific groups are available to support project teams in their day-to-day work and communications. This means that once a project has been created and opened, you can create a group and invite all project team members to join it. Whatever is communicated in this group is visible to all group members.

And you can do the same for opportunities. To do so, simply open an opportunity that was previously created in SAP Hybris C4C and go to the “Group” tab.

This will take you to an overview screen where you can determine whether and which groups were defined for the opportunity in SAP Hybris C4C. You can easily create a new group by clicking “New” and adding the colleagues who work with this opportunity. Everyone in the group will be made aware of any changes or other notifications, keeping them in the loop at all times.

But how exactly do I benefit?

This fundamentally changes the way you collaborate and communicate. You no longer need to store required project documents, project information, etc. just “somewhere” and rely on email or jour fixes to inform your colleagues of any new documents or changes in status. Each member of the project will automatically receive notifications with information on any relevant changes.

In conclusion, it is safe to say that the integration of SAP Jam with SAP Hybris C4C is highly convenient and beneficial in that it promotes and strengthens collaboration between all parties involved.

*Note: The name of the SAP Hybris suite was changed to SAP C/4HANA in June 2018. For further information please visit the SAP website.
